Chris Cornell links
and finally...
Everyone knows it ain't over 'till the fat lady sings... so, courtesy of the incomparable Hattie Jacques in another famous Carry On, here's some places you might like to go next. Otherwise known as the links page!

Hattie Jacques in Carry On Matron

This site concentrates on Chris's post-Audioslave solo career, but there's plenty still online about his past projects. If you want to know more about Chris's earlier solo album Euphoria Morning, check out Deb Baker's original Fan Page 1999-2003, now offline but [mostly] archived at the Wayback Machine. Deb's site also contains some info about early Audioslave - alternatively, the official Audioslave site is still online. For Soundgarden, visit the fantastic Unofficial Soundgarden Homepage and the Soundgarden Live Guide, and don't forget Reachdown.com for Temple Of The Dog.

I work for much of my time as an author and journalist. Since Chris left Audioslave to go solo, I've published the following articles on aspects of his music and career...

April 2007: article on Chris's lyrics

May 2007: review of Carry On

May 2007: live review, Astoria, London

May 2007: an interview with Chris (three different versions published in various media)

June 2007: interview with Carry On producer Steve Lillywhite

July 2007: review of guitarist Yogi's album, Metta.

Sept 2007: live review, Roundhouse, London

Sept 2007: live review, Academy, Birmingham

Sept 2007: interview with guitarist Yogi Lonich

Feb 2008: interview with guitarist Gary Lucas

During the Audioslave phase of Chris's career, I also wrote and published a whole series of articles in the UK press which dealt with both his work with the band, his history as a solo artist and as a member of Soundgarden.

January 2003: Audioslave live review, Astoria London

October 2003:Pushing Forward Back: a Chris Cornell career retrospective

May 2004: LA Confidential: an interview with Eleven

May 2005: Album review: Audioslave's Out of Exile

Maybe not relevant - but by popular request, here's a download link for my band Species 8472's traditional celtic version of Audioslave's Shadow On The Sun (right click, save as), featuring beautiful vocals and clarsach from my kids' music teacher, Beth Hunter, and tin whistles from young local musician Alex Urquhart-Taylor.

I live in a remote area of the Scottish Highlands, and I felt the song had the kind of melancholy I'm used to hearing in traditional Scots and Irish airs. So I got together some guest musicians, and we taught them the song. Beth learned the song by ear and didn't actually hear the Audioslave version until after we'd finished recording!
