The show was cut short on police advice because of the extreme heat inside the venue, so the band didn't get to play their intended second encore, and the show was also beset with sound problems. Nevertheless everyone agrees it was a great night and a great performance. Let Me Drown appeared in the soundcheck repertoire...a hint of things to come.

Chris and the band sounded absolutely amazing, and to think that he can go out on stage night after night (for over twenty or so years) belting out those songs with his amazing pipes just floors me. I saw him with Soundgarden back in 1996, and felt the same way. Even when the others were off taking a break, he was out on that stage with his acoustic just singing his heart out.

As you have all seen, the setlist covered just about everything from his career with one exception. I really don't remember him singing anything from Down on the Upside. I would have loved to have heard Burden in my Hand or Ty Cobb, but hey, there's only so much time and apparently they were cut short because of the heat.

I have to say this was a great night! It was not a night to show up in a Harley D Aloha Shirt. It was hot and the pipe over the stage right barricade was dripping on me all night, so by the time it was over I was down to the tank top, shorts and doc martins, like it was 1993 and SG was an opening band in a San Diego gymnasium. Yeah, man, it was like that.

It was eye opening to look around and go "WOW we have aged". I loved all the 20 somethings, but it was those of us in the 38 to 45 range that showed the love. Just a couple of notes; It was a good thing he didn't play the set list in reverse order because during Loud Love and JCP folks in my corner about came unglued and the place would have been a wreck.

Chris went on several times about just being able to take it out on the road and play music, how he enjoyed the chance to just play it all, and thanks for getting to playing (Say Hello to Heaven) for the first time tonight. (this tour, I would be guessing).

He expressed thanks to Johnny Cash, how he still gets high thinking about him recording a song he wrote, so then he played it.

Billie Jean was so soulful and sublime I don't think half the fans even got what he was doing with it until the end, Wacho Jacko never had that much soul in a song, and Chris was great in just saying it was an old song.

Additional wonderful comments and sly grins came with "Can't Change Me", every guy will at some moment get to sing this to his woman, or something to that effect.

Black Hole Sun was often commented on after the show, because of its place in the set, making it a last impression sort of thing, I heard both Pos and Neg. I think often younger folks want to hear album tracks and be a part of what they missed out on (The early 90's).

For those who have been around pre the summer of '94, it was awesome to hear a stripped down more demo like version that didn't crowd his voice.

The venue is a hole, you can't expect much in the way of air light and water from a rehabbed warehouse. I'll still take it though over no show at all. The length of the show was perfect, it took me 3 hours to get there and three hours home, so three hours in a hole was fine by me.

There was Merch, two t-shirts, one black, one tan/green both too small for a bubba like me, but at $20 they had the right price. If you missed her, she was sitting to the left of the entrance on a bar stool with the shirts flat on a folding table in front of her.

We as fans have progressed and so has Chris, he only thought about stage diving and it's alright, because everyone was holding up their cell phone and wouldn't have been able to let him surf anyway. At one point he almost got wrecked though, when a lady with black hair grabbed him from the stage right floor cabinets and almost pulled him off into the barricade. He was on one foot leaned out over the void until security righted him and tossed her out.

If a long curly haired fireplug of a guy asked your tall ass to move so his wife could see someplace next to the stage right barricade entrance, that was me and I’m sorry if I was rude. I love my girl and last night was all about getting her out from the kids, and back to when we were the kids.

Thanks to Chris, and thanks to all the fans, it was a magical evening.

There were good and bad points about the show, the best part for me was being right in front of Chris the entire show, wooooooo, hooooooo!!!!!!! We got there early, hubby and me were first in line. Here is what they played during the soundcheck: Let Me Drown (freakin' great, they played this song over and over, apparently practicing it) Killing Birds, No Such Thing, Be Yourself, Seasons, Your Soul Today, My Wave, (practiced this one a lot too), All Night Long.

Now the bad part: they didn't come out to do the second encore because it was a fuckin' oven in the place and the cops ended the show. I was about to pass out so I can see why they had to do it, but still, it sucked. This is what was on the setlist as the second encore: Never Be Your Man, Be Yourself, Slaves and Bulldozers. What a bummer that it ended like that, but still, it was a great show.

I have to say that the venue pretty much sucked, sorry Nashville fans, but why couldn't they have some air on in the place? The sound wasn't exactly right either, Chris kept motioning for them to turn his vocals up. Sometimes Yogi's guitar was too loud. The acoustics in the place weren't so great. Nonetheless, it sounded pretty awesome anyways.

Now the good points: The people in Nashville are great, very friendly, we met some cool people in line...It was so cool to get to see young fans like that get into Chris. Loved that. And Chris did too. He was really relating to all of the young people right up front with us old guys, lol! I made a sign for Chris that said "Chris, Thank You!" on one side and he took it and said "the song, right?" and I said yes, and he laughed. Then on the other side I had "My Wave" and "Wave Goodbye" and he showed it to Peter and said "Look what else she wants!" and Peter smiled because apparently they were ready with My Wave from the soundcheck, which they rewarded us with. Freakin' awesome, definitely a highlight.

All I can say is this was one amazing show. Better than Baltimore was and it was pretty damn good.. the band has really jelled. I went to the show with a girl from work, got there kinda late, so we weren't right up front. Bummer, but couldn't be helped.

Anyway, Chris sounds great, better than he did with SG in 96 and comparable to 92. He sang Loud Love much, much better than with Audioslave and SG! Soundgarden never did pull off the guitars on that song live. He is spot on with vocals. Voice still not showing wear and tear, hard to believe, but true. I like Scar on Sky better acoustic, but that's just me.

The only thing that really sucked was it was so fucking hot in there that we only got one encore. The police shut the place down; people were getting heatstroke. There was absolutely no air in that place! Sucked that they didn't get a chance to play slaves, love that song live! The show in atlanta will mark I think about the 50th time that I've seen Chris during his career. God, I'm gettin' old!
