thanks to pittguy2012 for the photo - see more here Projekt Revolution's second date at Pittsburgh's Post-Gazette Pavilion saw Chris wandering out into the crowd during Black Hole Sun. The setlist for tonight brought back early Soundgarden showstopper Loud Love and new tracks Long Gone and Watch Out got a second live airing.
Cochise - Outshined - What You Are - Rusty Cage - Hunger Strike - Watch Out - Show Me How to Live - Like a Stone - Long Gone - Loud Love - Black Hole Sun - Spoonman
by poohbear15480 It was awesome! Honestly, I just went to see Chris, and he put on a kickass show. During Black Hole Sun, Chris made his way down the aisles of the pavilion (which shocked everyone including security) and even went as far out as the beginning of the lawn section...to start off, I will admit I missed the beginning of Cochise. I showed up later in the day, and ended up waiting forever in line to get a t-shirt. Anyways, Chris started with Cochise, which initially got the crowd excited. He then went on to talk about how it's been a long time since he's played in Pittsburgh. [Not since 19 July 2003, at the same venue with Audioslave, to be exact - webmaster] The next song he played was Outshined. He did change the lyrics to "I'm looking California, and feeling Pennslyvania" which I thought was cool. They then played What You Are. The next song was Rusty Cage, which was very intense and his voice sounded excellent during. After that they played Hunger Strike, which he mentioned that he liked help singing that song, so after the beginning Chester from Linkin Park came out and the crowd went insane. After that he announced he was going to play a new song, which was Watch Out. To me the song seemed heavier live, though I still don't like it a lot. Show Me How to Live was another very intense song and got the crowd moving. Next was Like a Stone, which was great. He then played Long Gone, which I really got into. I think it sounds great live. The next song was Loud Love, which to me seemed like a highlight of the show for most people. Everyone over the age of about 23, (with some exceptions) were singing along and dancing. Black Hole Sun was definilty my favorite part of the show. He started on stage and the next thing you knew he was heading down the left aisle of the pavilion. He then made his way down the other main aisle, and everyone went nuts. He continued his way out to the begining of the lawn section (with security and a TON of fans following him). I wasn't able to get that close, but I tried.
thanks to pittguy2012 for the photo - see more here The last song that he played was Spoonman, which was a great ending to a great show. I'm not sure if he ended up playing a song with Linkin Park because we left a little early, but to me he made Projekt Revolution a great experience.
No reviews as such, but here's part of a preview of the night by Scott Mervis in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette. Cornell, sporting one of rock's most distinctive voices, comes to the tour as a solo artist once again, having split with Tom Morello and Audioslave in early 2007. Cornell released his second solo record, "Carry On," last year, and a new one with producer Timbaland, of all people, is due in September. "For me it's kind of ideal," Cornell says of this tour, "because being a solo artist after all this time and having two bands, three bands really that I released records with, as well as a lot of solo material, it's a lot of diversity. And I noticed in the last year playing festivals worked really well for me because I can mix it up and do some of the heavier rock that I've ever written, as well as turn around and do songs where I'm just singing and playing acoustic guitar." Shinoda recalls that he had always been more of a hip-hopper than a rocker, but that when he was a teenager his friend Mark Wakefield (originally in Linkin Park) turned him onto Soundgarden and the Seattle scene. "I remember getting 'Badmotorfinger.' I really was not listening to almost any rock at that point, but albums like that were so universal and had such a great sound -- those were the exceptions to the rule for me. It's really enjoyable for me to see him put all these songs together with a band that's capable of representing all the different types of sounds that he's made over the years, whether it's a Soundgarden song, or an Audioslave song or a solo song. It's almost like a greatest hits set."
Outshined - thanks bigjonny02 Hunger Strike (with Chester Bennington of Linkin Park) - thanks zerosignal0
