Globo.com Chris Cornell sacode fãs em show no Rio
photo by valeria sampaio - see more here Ex-vocalista do Soundgarden e Audioslave toca muitos hits das duas bandas. O repertório da noite incluiu pérolas como “Black hole sun”, “Spoonman”, “Outshined”, “Fell on black days” e “Rusty cage”, do Soundgarden, “Like a stone” e “Be yourself”, do Audioslave, “You know my name”, que o músico fez para a trilha sonora de “007 – Cassino Royale”, e “Hunger strike”, do Temple of the dog, cantado em coro pelo público num dos melhores momentos do show. - Carla Meneghini, Globo.com with translation below by Lady Marques (thanks Lady!)
photo by valeria sampaio - see more here Chris Cornell blow fans away in concert on Rio Chris Cornell proved why Soundgarden and Audioslave were such big successful bands. The former lead singer of these two bands, rocked on Citibank Hall, Rio de Janeiro, on december 12th with a perfect concert for fans of both bands. Outside the venue, a storm was taking down the city. But inside, the audience would jump around, singing the whole time all songs of the setlist which include besides his solo stuff, Soundgarden, Audioslave and even Temple Of The Dog tracks. In his 43, Cornell showed how he still has the same energy he used to when he was about 20 playing around Seattle. In addition to his hypnotizing stage presence, Chris abused of the higher and lower notes without saving his beatiful voice not even for a second. In a 2 and half-hour performance, Cornell kept the range and power of his voice wich sounds so good live as the studio songs does. The setlist included classics like 'Black Hole Sun', 'Spoonman', 'Outshined', 'Fell On Black Days' and 'Rusty Cage' from Soundgarden; 'Like A Stone' and 'Be Yourself' from Audioslave; 'You Know My Name', of Casino Royale soundtrack and the Temple Of The Dog hit single, 'Hunger Strike' that made the audience sing together in one of the best moments of the show. In the acoustic set we watched he play 'Call Me A Dog', 'Arms Around Your Love' from the new solo album and Michael Jackson's 'Billie Jean'. With his very competent band, Cornell provide to his fans exactly what they wanted to hear and get the public involved with his stripped charisma. He left the stage with the same voice he started the show, going through all notes in a impressive and admirable natural way. The audience, that sang all the time, left the venue mostly with their voice cracked but totally happy.
