by shoppingkarma My husband and I bought tickets online to see Chris Cornell play at the Catalyst in Santa Cruz. I've seen Soundgarden 5 times in my life (1989 in Columbia, SC, 1992 Lollapalooza (it was so good, I had to see it twice) Charlotte N.C., Atlanta, GA, 1994 in Sacramento, 1996 in San Francisco.) I knew I would be blown away because each time I have gone to see him that's exactly what happened. His voice is one of the most amazing voices I have ever heard. He makes those high notes seem so effortless. You can get to know all the words to his songs and even be inspired enough to hit those high notes but they just don't come out the way that he sings them.
thanks to Roxy Scarmichael for the photo My husband and I watched in awe as he sang some of his new songs, some Audioslave and several Soundgarden songs. I think he even sang a Temple of the Dog song too. I can't quite remember, but as we walking back from the bathroom we heard one. Yes, I do have to go quite often but I can still enjoy everything around me despite this. Chris even had an encore of two great songs after they finished playing their set. Some fans sat there chanting for more and of course he obliged and came out to sing. I haven't seen a whole lot of bands that will come out for an encore, at least in the last couple of years. It is quite rare. The last song sung was "Black Hole Sun" and it was performed so exceptionally well that I woke up singing the song in my head this morning. That's when you know you have been to a good show. Chris Cornell is so tall, lean, and pretty darn sexy. He has this presence about him as moves around the stage so gracefully. I am NOT at all in the market for a new man, but I can at least admire his sleek appearance and especially his voice! He wore this long sleeve white shirt where you could see his muscular sexy chest. My husband laughed at me as I admired the strong sexy presence on stage. My honey was still the sexiest man in the whole joint as far as I was concerned. Yes, we made out a bunch of times and it was great. We had an amazing time together; just the two of us! read shoppingkarma's great blog on "on beating advanced cancer, what good karma is to me, judging others by their heart & soul & realizing the importance of right now."
thanks to Roxy Scarmichael for the photo by toshala .....the crowd filled the place nicely, CC started about 9:30 and gave us 2 hours and 19 songs...as always the picks were a flying but they had the stage set up like a Scream show, so Jason was behind plexiglass but Dave,Yogi and CC were letting them fly out at the audience at quite a pace.....I eventually nabbed 2...... anyway, we had made some signs with our song choices and Laurie handed them to CC and he's going through them saying, 'yeah, we got this one, no, not doing that one,' and tells the audience that she had a LIST and held them up.....I'd asked for No Attention and both of us asked for Moth........when he did Moth, he looked up at Lois and said " this is for you Lois, the best photographer in the world", (blew her a kiss and gave her such a sweet smile.....made her so happy......she thanked me over and over again for the ticket but as I told her, it was the least I could do....because of her, over the years I've gotten to see CC now 22 times, I've met him 3 times, gotten pics with him and so it was really my pleasure I could afford it......... she deserved it......we deserved a good concert but we got even BETTER than we hoped for. Will is adorable and Cory interacts with him often.......Peter and Yogi were on fire and so my final words must be...... that was an AWESOME show.
thanks to Roxy Scarmichael for the photo by laurieann It was the most amazing night!!!!! I'm not sure what's more sore...my neck from having to look almost straight up (Imagine a stage 6 feet high, with 6 foot 4 o' Cornell standing on top of it!!!) all night...along with the my usual headbanging, or my face from the permanent grin that was stuck there all damn night long. I'm telling you ladies...it's no fucking wonder we love Chris as much as we do. He honors us as much as we honor him. It's a beautiful thing, and I LOVE every minute of it. I had so much sign fun with him last night...after they were done playing gun he handed me the lyrics he needed to sing it! Can you imagine???
