"You Know My Name" has been nominated for "best original song written for film" in the 2007 ASCAP World Soundtrack awards. See details of other nominees here. Ironic that ASCAP of all people should omit David Arnold's co-writing credit!

Owing to the need to rest his voice, Chris has cancelled his next three scheduled shows at European festivals on medical advice. These are the Metal Hammer festival in Poland, the Sziget Festival in Hungary, and the Frequency Festival in Austria. His next scheduled show will now be the Pukkelpop Festival in Belgium on August 17. This message was posted on Chris's official MySpace page and elsewhere last night:

"Upon completion of the U.S. summer tour, Chris was diagnosed with strained vocal chords and the doctor strongly advised that he take 10 days to two weeks off from singing onstage to prevent injury. Chris deeply regrets any disappointment this may cause his fans in Poland, Hungary, and Austria, and promises to come back as soon as he can."

More Canadian and US dates for September and October have appeared at Pollstar, although they have yet to appear on any of Chris's official sites - so treat this news as unconfirmed intelligence for now!

Another Linkin Park/Chris Cornell show has apparently been scheduled for Auckland on October 11 after the other New Zealand show sold out in hours. Tickets are already on sale to Linkin Park fan club members, with Ticketmaster presale starting on 10 August and general public on 13 August.

August 7 2007

Chris posted this message on his official MySpace page and elsewhere last night:

Hello this is Chris Cornell.

Over the past several months, several incidents have taken place where others felt the need to engage in activities pretending to be me. I have been wanting to make a clear statement to fans, friends and anyone this may concern; under no circumstances, under any name or address do I or have I ever communicated or corresponded with anyone online or otherwise.

I also wish to apologize to the fans in Denver and Salt Lake City for the postponed shows. This was due to a scheduling oversight by a representative that no longer works with me. I look forward to making these dates up in the fall.

Thank you all for your continued support.
