Some of the musicians who played on carry on were unavailable for a long tour due to other commitments. Chris put together a totally new live band for his forthcoming shows.

Their first appearance with Chris was his March 29 KROQ radio session (stream it here). According to this account of the auditions, they will be his touring band for the foreseeable future and have been rehearsing in preparation for "sixteen months of live shows."

Peter Thorn, guitar

Canadian guitarist Peter Thorn studied at the Musician's Institute in Los Angeles and has worked with Courtney Love, Jewel, Alicia Keys, Chaka Khan, Ben Jelen and Robi Draco Rosa. He's also a member of Black Unicorn with Brian Ray, one of the guitarists who played on carry on. On 23 April he sent this message out to fans via a MySpace bulletin: "Hey all, I'm having a good old time out on tour with Chris Cornell....the gigs have all been a blast and the crowds are fantastic- so LOUD and into it, it's great. We try and do something new and interesting every show, adding songs constantly from the 20+ years of material from Soundgarden, TOTD, Audioslave, and Cornell solo material that we can pick from."
